How Habitat Works
Redwood River Habitat for Humanity builds homes in partnership with hard-working, low-income families and individuals in Redwood and LyonCounty. Future homeowners must put in at least 300 hours of “sweat equity” labor by helping to build their own home and working on other Habitat projects. A $500 down payment is required, which can be paid in installments before construction begins. After construction is completed, houses are sold at cost to partnering homeowners, with no-interest mortgages. Monthly mortgage payments are required.
